The Indian Men's Hockey Team team created history on Thursday night June 16,2016 by entering their first ever final of the Champions Trophy.

Despite losing 4-2 to Australia earlier in the day, the men in blue progressed thanks to Great Britain's 3-3 draw against Belgium.

With 2 wins, 2 defeats and a draw, the Indian side finished second on the points table.

Britain needed a convincing win against Belgium in order to make the final. They however ended up with 5 points and a third place finish.

India will now face favorites Australia in the summit clash of the six-nation tournament on Saturday June 18,2016

This  will be India's first appearance in the summit clash in 36 years since the inception of the blue-riband six-nation tournament. India's only podium finish until now was a bronze medal won way back in 1982 at Amsterdam.
