Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jalalithaa fulfills 5 of her Promises in the Election Manifesto on day one of assuming office Monday May 23,2016



Shortly after assuming office as Chief Minister for a record sixth time,J Jayalalithaa orders the implementation of five schemes on her first day of assuming office



1)Farmers Loans in Cooperative Banks as on 31.03.2016 to be waived fully which would entail a financial burden of Rs 5,780 crore

2) TASMAC shops to open only at 12 noon and not at 10 a.m. earlier, and close as usual at 10 p.m. Five hundred retail shops to be closed.

3)100 units of free power from today to Domestic Consumers which would entail an additional payout of Rs 1,607 crore as grant to the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (TANGEDCO)

4)Eight gram gold to women for mangalsutra

5)200 units of free power to Handloom and 750 units of free power to Powerloom

Note

During the election campaign, Jayalalithaa has promised -

phased and complete prohibition in the state. Keeping up her promise, she reduced the working hours of state-run Tamil Nadu State Marketing Corporation (TASMAC) liquor outlets besides closure of 500 of its shops

increasing gold allocation from 4 to 8 grams for women beneficiaries under the Thallikku Thangam Scheme (Gold for 'Mangalsutra')
