Antonio Conte Named the permanent successor to Jose Mourinho at Stampford Bridge, signing a three-year deal post Euro 2016

Antonio Conte has been appointed as the permanent successor to Jose Mourinho at Stamford Bridge,on Monday April 04,2016, signing a 3-year deal post Euro 2016

Antonia Conte, the Italian national team manager, who is set to take over the club after the European Championships, has been handed a three-year deal worth over £30million by Roman Abramovich and been told “take us back to the top”.

Antonio Conte, the 46-year-old coach left his last club job at Juventus after a dispute over transfers, among other things, and infamously claimed that his side couldn’t win in the Champions League because “”you can’t eat in a €100 restaurant if you only have €10.”

Chelsea have been without a permanent manager since the London club ended Jose Mourinho’s second spell at Stamford Bridge in December 2015 after they lost nine out of the first 16 games of their Premier League title defence.

Under Dutch coach Hiddink, they have mounted something of a recovery and last weekend’s 4-0 win away to bottom of the table Aston Villa left Chelsea tenth in the 20-team Premier League.

Nevertheless they will now end the season without a trophy and won’t qualify for the elite Champions League, with even a place in Europe’s second-tier Europa League now looking beyond them.

Antonio Conte becomes the fifth Italian manager of Chelsea following Gianluca Vialli, Claudio Ranieri, Carlo Ancelotti and Roberto di Matteo.

Antonio Conte's appointment will also make him the eighth full-time Chelsea manager during Russian billionaire Roman Abramovich’s 13 years as owner of the Blues.
