Assam government has declared public holiday on April 4 in areas falling under the jurisdiction of Assembly constituencies where first phase of polling will be held.
The government has declared public holiday under the Negotiable Instruments Act 1881, a government release said today.
This declaration is made in respect of all central government offices/ public sector undertakings/ corporations/ boards/ banks/ educational institutions/ etc., in the assembly constituencies of Ratabari, Patharkandi, Karimganj North, Karimganj South, Badarpur, Hailakandi, Katlichera, Algapur, Silchar, Sonai, Dholai, Udharbond, Lakhipur, Barkhola, Katigora, Haflong, Bokajan, Howraghat, Diphu, Baithalangsu, Paneri, Udalguri, Majbat, Dhekiajuli, Barchalla, Tezpur, Sootea, Biswanath, Behali, Gohpur, Bokakhat, Sorupathar, Rongapara, Chabua, Golaghat, Khumtai, the release said.
The other constituencies are Dergaon, Jorhat, Majuli, Naharkatia, Titabor, Mariani, Teok, Aamguri, Mahmora, Nazira, Sonari, Thowra, Sivasagar, Bihpuria, Naobaisa, Lakhimpur, Sadiya, Dhakuakhana, Dhemaji, Jonai, Moran, Dibrugarh, Lahowal, Duliajaan, Margherita, Doomdooma, Digboi, Tinsukia, Tinkhong.
