Amazon launches ‘tatkal’ service in Chennai for SMEs Tuesday March 29,2016

Amazon India has launched Amazon Tatkal, which enables small and medium enterprise (SME) owners to get on board and sell their products on Amazon.in.

Amazon Tatkal is a mobile van that offers services like registration, imaging, cataloguing and basic seller training videos. Interested sellers can register and get their products online — free of cost — in 60 minutes.

The van visits seller-dense pockets across multiple cities in the country and engages with local businesses.

Trained company representatives will educate sellers on the benefits of selling online, introduce them to seller services and help them launch their products online with on-the-spot imaging and cataloguing task.

Launching the facility in Chennai,Tamil Nadu on Tuesday March 29,2016, Gopal Pillai, Director and General Manager - Seller Services, Amazon India, said though many sellers are interested in online transactions, they are unable to overcome perception barriers. “They think e-commerce is time consuming, tedious and complex,” he said.

The initiative was first launched in Delhi and Kozhikode four weeks ago and has so far covered 20 cities.
