Academy Award for Best Actress - Facts

1)Since its inception in 1929, the award has been given to 73 actresses and the awards ceremony was first broadcast to radio in 1930 and televised in 1953
The various category winners are awarded a copy of a statuette, officially called the Academy Award of Merit, which has become commonly known by its nickname "Oscar".

2)Katharine Hepburn has won the most awards in this category, with 4 Oscars for her performances in the films -

10)Marion Cotillard became the first person to win for a French-language film La Vie en Rose(2007)
