BCCI Announces 15-member Asia Cup and World Twenty20 Squad Friday February 05,2016

There were little surprises in India's 15-member Asia Cup and World Twenty20 squad announced by the BCCI on Friday February 05,2016, but legspinner Amit Mishra, batsman Manish Pandey and swing bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar may consider themselves unlucky not to get the big ticket, which went to rookie allrounders Pawan Negi and Hardik Pandya.

If any, Negi, who has been picked for the three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka, is the only surprise name in the squad as he is yet to make his international debut. The only other surprise, if it's one, would be the inclusion of two offspinners, as the selectors stuck with Harbhajan Singh, along with R Ashwin.

The selectors also kept faith in two other veterans, Yuvraj Singh and Ashish Nehra, after bringing them and Harbhajan back during the T20I leg of the Australian tour where India whitewashed the hosts 3-0

Jasprit Bumrah too was rewarded for his dream ODI and T20I debuts in Australia, but Gurkeerat Maan and Rishi Dhawan couldn't retain their place after an average show Down Under.

Also making a return to India colours will be fast bowler Mohammed Shami who was expected to play in Australia after a 9-month layoff but had to fly back as he picked a hamstring injury before the tour began.

"Shami has recovered and started bowling; he has been our best bowler. We have 30 days before World T20 begins and there is good time on hand to take a call on him," chief selector Sandeep Patil told after the selection committee's meeting, which was also attended by BCCI secretary Anurag Thakur and MS Dhoni.

Mansh Pandey hit a century during the ODI series in Australia and would have been counting on his stars to get the call-up for the Asia Cup in Bangladesh and the World T20 at home. But the selectors couldn't find a place for the Karnataka batsman
"Manish Pandey's name was part of the meeting but we had to focus on the balance of the team," chief selector Sandeep Patil told

Considering Yuvraj and Suresh Raina bowl consistently in T20 cricket, India have as many as six allrounders in the squad, including Ravindra Jadeja, Negi, Pandya and Ravichandran Ashwin, who can wield the willow appreciably
