2016 NZ Vs Australia Second Test @ Christ Church - Kane Williamson Becomes the fastest New Zealand batsman to go past 4000 runs in Test Matches



Kane Williamson enhanced his reputation as the best batsman in the world currently by breaking records on the 4th day Tuesday Feb 23,2016 of the second Test  Vs Australia in Christchurch.

Kane Williamson, who has enjoyed a remarkable run of form in the past couple of years, once again played a gritty knock to help  NZ fight

Kane Williamson enjoyed a fabulous 2015, scoring 1172 runs in the year with five centuries at an average of 90.15.

Kane Williamson looked good to notch up his 14th Test century but on 97(210 Balls 4x8), he attempted to drive a full ball from Jackson Bird but ended up inside-edging it onto the stumps. However, he did manage to go past 4000 runs in his 89th innings


Kane Williamson has achieved it faster than other greats like -
  • Ricky Ponting(96 Innings)
  • Kumar Sangakkara(92 Innings)
  • Mahela Jayawardene(91 Innings) 

Kane Williamson's feat broke a 24-year New Zealand record. He became the fastest New Zealand batsman and also the youngest to reach 4000 runs, breaking the earlier record set by  Martin Crowe when he got past the landmark in 93 innings
