In the second edition, Pakistan lifted the cup by defeating Sri Lanka by 8 wickets on June 21, 2009

The third edition saw England winning an ICC tournament for the first time. Paul Collingwood’s side posted a 7-wicket win over Australia in the 2010 final.

In the fourth edition, the West Indies ended a 33-year major title drought by clinching the ICC World Twenty20 crown with a 36-run victory over Sri Lanka on October 7, 2012

Having entered finals for the third time, Sri Lankans defeated India by 6 wickets. The captains were M.S. Dhoni of India and Lasith Malinga of Sri Lanka.
