These incredible pictures show the largest container ship ever to visit the U.S. passing under the Golden Gate Bridge with just 20ft to spare.

 

The quarter-mile-long Benjamin Franklin, which is bigger than the Empire State building without its spike, set sail from China earlier this month and stopped in  Los Angeles on New Year's Eve.

The megaship, which can hold up to 18,000 shipping containers, was photographed passing under the red bridge before docking in San Pedro on Thursday Dec 31,2015
