2016 Australian Open Women's Singles Final - Angelique Kerber(Germany)beats Serena Williams(USA) to win maiden Australian Open title Saturday January 30,2016

 
Angelique Kerber (Germany) upset Serena Williams 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 to win the Australian Open title on Saturday, ending the six-time champion's unbeaten streak in finals here and winning a major title for the first time.

Serena Williams was an overwhelming favorite at Melbourne Park, where she had won all six previous times she'd reached the final, and was trying to equal Steffi Graf's Open-era record of 22 Grand Slam singles titles.

Serena Williams won the 2015 Australian Open, 2015 French Open and 2015 Wimbledon titles before losing to Roberta Vinci in the 2015  U.S. Open semifinals

Angelique Kerber celebrated her stunning Australian Open final on Saturday January 30,2016 victory 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 over Serena Williams by taking a swim in the Yarra river next to Rod Laver Arena on Sunday January 31,2016

Angelique Kerber, who also sprayed champagne and posed with the trophy at Melbourne's Government House, took the chilly plunge along with members of her team
