SCG to turn PINK in support of Jane McGrath Foundation
The Sydney
Cricket Ground will be turned bright pink during the T20 match between
Australia and India on Sunday January 31,2016 to support the Jane McGrath Foundation.
The
fundraising event will go to help the McGrath Foundation meet their
fundraising shortfall after rain washed out a large part of the annual
Sydney Pink Test in January.
The
foundation's goal of $380,000 for the Test was to go towards funding
one McGrath Breast Care Nurse for three years – but unfortunately due to
rain, fundraising fell short of the target.
'We're
encouraging fans to dress up and wear pink as they would have on day
three of the Test and grab a hot pink wrist band at the ground for a
gold coin donation,' said McGrath Foundation Ambassador & Director
Tracy Bevan.
The
'Pink Test' fundraising efforts of the McGrath Foundation, chaired by
former test paceman Glenn McGrath, traditionally takes precedence on day
three of the Sydney test.
Cricket
fans are encouraged to wear pink clothing and the Ladies Stand at the
SCG's is usually draped in pink bunting to celebrate the charity's work
in raising awareness of breast cancer and nursing support services

A brilliant century from Shane Watson, only the second by an Australian
batsman, laid the foundation for Australia's mammoth 197/5 in 20 Overs
Australia captain Shane Watson struck the second-highest Twenty20
international score ever but his 124 went in vain as a combined batting
effort helped India score a thrilling last-ball victory to complete a
3-0 whitewash
Yuvraj Singh struck with his first ball as he removed Glenn Maxwell for the second time in the series
However, fifties from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli kept India in the
hunt. It was left to Suresh Raina and Yuvraj Singh to get India close
and the duo responded by helping them over the line in a last-ball
thriller.
India needed 17 to win off the last over and Suresh Raina hit a boundary off the final ball for victory
Three victories in three matches as India once again rode on their top-order heroics, powered by
half-centuries from Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli and a brilliant 49-run
knock from Suresh Raina, to chase down a towering target of 198 set by
Australia in a scintillating finish in the 3rd Twenty20 at the SCG
If it was Shane Watson's century that propelled Australia to a mountain
score of 195 for 5 in 20 overs, the script of India's successful run
chase was written by Rohit's 38-ball 52, Kohli's 36-ball 50 and Raina's
unbeaten 49 off 25 balls.

For the first time, India have won five consecutive matches vs Australia
in T20Is - by 6 wickets at Rajkot on October 10, 2013; by 73 runs at
Dhaka on March 30, 2014; by 37 runs at Adelaide on January 26, 2016, by
27 runs at Melbourne on January 29, 2016 and by 7 wickets at Sydney on
January 31, 2016.
India have registered their first last-ball win while batting second in T20Is - the 15th instance overall.
India's total of 200/3 is their third highest successful chase in T20Is
behind the 211 for 4 vs Sri Lanka at Mohali on December 12, 2009, and
202 for 4 vs Australia at Rajkot on October 10, 2013.
India have won eight and lost four matches out of 12 T2OIs contested vs Australia - success percentage 66.66
A team has won all three matches in a bilateral series for the fifth
time in T20Is - the first four instances being Ireland vs Kenya in
2011-12; Bangladesh vs Ireland in 2012; Australia vs England in 2013-14

Virat Kohli also became the first batsman to notch three half centuries in a
bilateral series. His tally of 199 (ave.199.00) is a record for a
three-match bilateral series in T20Is.
Virat Kohli's tally of 12 fifty-plus innings is exceeded only by Brendon McCullum (15) and Chris Gayle (14).
Virat Kohli has received his third 'Player of the Series' award in T20Is - vs

Shane Watson has received his ninth Man-of-the-Match award in T20Is - his second vs India
Shane Watson scored ed his first century in T20Is - unbeaten 124 is the highest individual innings by any batsman on
captaincy debut in this format, eclipsing Ricky Ponting's unbeaten 98
for Australia vs New Zealand at Auckland on February 17, 2005
Shane Watson is the second Australian player to post a century in T20Is. Aaron
Finch was the first to accomplish the distinction - 156 vs England at
Southampton on August 29, 2013. These two knocks are the highest
individual innings in T20Is.
Shane Watson is the first batsman to post a hundred in T20Is in Australia,
eclipsing Damien Martyn's 96 vs South Africa at Brisbane on January 9,
2006.
