2016 Australian Open Men's Singles SF - Novak Djokovic beats Roger Federer to reach the final

Novak Djokovic advanced to his sixth Australian Open final with a 6-1 6-2 3-6 6-3 victory over Roger Federer.

World No 1 Novak Djokovic dominated the first two sets with some superb hitting, then had to hold off a spirited Federer fightback.

It is the third straight Grand Slam in which Djokovic has beaten the Swiss, prolonging Federer's wait for an 18th major title.

Novak Djokovic will face Andy Murray or Canada's Milos Raonic in the final.

  • Murray will be competing in his ninth Grand Slam final, and is looking for his third major title after wins at the US Open (2012) and Wimbledon (2013)
  • Djokovic is unbeaten in all five of his Australian Open final appearances, and has beaten Murray in three of them.
  • Djokovic has 10 Grand Slams to his name - five Australian Opens, three at Wimbledon and two US Open titles.
  • It will be the 31st meeting between the two players. Murray has lost 21 matches against the Serb.
  • Murray is looking to become the first man in the Open era to win a Grand Slam title after losing four finals at any one tournament.
