London Premier of '' He Named Me Malala ''

Filmed over 18 months in Britain, Kenya, Nigeria, Abu Dhabi and Jordan, the documentary by American David Guggenheim recalls how Malala's father chose her name in honour of Malalai of Maiwand, a heroine who rallied the Pashtun army against British troops in 1880.

The film, which premiered at the London Film Festival is an intimate portrait of Malala Yousafzai, the passionate Pakistani advocate of girls' education who survived a brutal Taliban gun attack in 2012.

Celebrities and activists flocked to the premiere of a documentary, He Named Me Malala, about the inspirational teenager who resisted the Taliban and won.
Malala looked elegant in blue and orange leaf and vine-print headscarf over an orange-embroidered shalwar kameez and turquoise woven wedges

But despite the presence of Annie Lennox, Claudia Winkleman and Fiona Phillips at the screening of the film at Ham Yard Hotel in central London, the real stars of the red carpet were the schoolgirl's beloved father and brother.
