Rohit Sharma's blistering century went in vain as South Africa began their long tour of India on a winning note by scripting a thrilling seven-wicket victory in the first Twenty20 International cricket match in Dharamsala on Friday

Rohit Sharma rode his luck to smash a stroke-filled century(106 Runs in 66 Balls with 4x12 and 6x5) marked by some clean hitting, as India set South Africa a target of 200 in the opening T20 match in front of a packed HPCA Stadium

A whirlwind second-wicket stand of 138 off 79 deliveries between Rohit and Virat Kohli helped India reach 199 for five in 20 overs

The fall of four wickets in the last five overs enabled the South Africans keep India within the psychologically-important barrier of 200

In a high-scoring encounter played before a sell-out crowd of 23,000 at the picturesque venue, South Africa chased down India's challenging 199/5 with two deliveries to spare

Test skipper Hashim Amla (36) and ODI skipper de Villiers laid the foundation of the SA win with their 77-run opening stand and Duminy guided the visiting side to the finish line with a sublime unbeaten 68 off just 34 balls.

Hashim Amla's run-out broke the opening stand

J P Duminy's 105-run unbeaten partnership for the fourth wicket with Farhaan Behardien (32 not out) sealed the game for the Proteas.
Duminy and Farhaan Behardien were involved in a stand of 105 (unbroken) – South Africa's first century stand for the fourth wicket in T20Is, eclipsing the 90 (unbroken) between Duminy and Kallis vs England at Chester-le-Street on September 8, 2012.

The win at Dharamsala was South Africa's 3rd in 9 Twenty20 internationals against India, who have won six
