Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa announces new taluks, revenue divisions Monday August 31,2015


Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Monday announced that 16 more taluks and five more revenue divisions would be created during the current financial year at a total expenditure of Rs 17.65 crore.
The new taluks would be created by bifurcating and restructuring some of the existing taluks and revenue divisions.
With this, the total number of taluks in the State would go up from 269 to 285while the number of revenue divisions would go up from 80 to 85.

Making a suo motu statement in the State Assembly, the Chief Minister said, during the past four years, four revenue divisions, 49 new taluks and 59 firkas have been created in the state with a view to expedite the services of the Revenue Department
Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today announced creation of 16 new taluks and five revenue divisions at a total cost of Rs 17.65 crore to help people access services in a better way.

In a statement under Rule 110 in the State Assembly, Jayalalithaa said 16 new taluks would be created at a cost of Rs 16 crore.

Keezh Pennathur, Melmalaianur, Kandachipuram, Soolagiri, Karimangalam, Pallavaram are among the new taluks
