' Swachh Bharat ' campaign head Vijayalakshmi Joshi quits

 

Even before the Swachh Bharat campaign completes a year, head of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's ambitious project Vijayalakshmi Joshi has taken a voluntary retirement and has quit from her post.

The Gujarat cadre IAS officer has not given a reason for opting for voluntary retirement. She was secretary at the Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation.

The NDA Government was reportedly unhappy with the slow pace of work with the Swachh Bharat project.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched his pet 'Clean India' project campaign on October 2, 2014 on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti.

The campaign is aimed at cleaning up India and improving sanitation facilities across the country.
