Suraksha Hose Mandatory for Domestic Use of LPG Cylinders

 

To ensure safety at home, the Centre has made the orange-coloured Suraksha hose mandatory for domestic use of LPG cylinders. Hitherto, the hose was only recommended as one having safety feature and conforming to standards

Ministry of Oil and Petroleum, in a recent communication, said, “This will help improve safety at homes. Consumers will not be permitted to use the green rubber hoses. Dealers have been asked to make checks at homes when refills are supplied,”

The Suraksha hose, which is patented and manufactured by the LPG Equipment Research Centre, Bengaluru, has three layers. The inner and outer layers are made of special quality rubber and the middle layer is made of braided copper or brass-coated high carbon steel wire mesh. The outer layer is fire-resistant and cannot be damaged by rodents or insects
