Rowan County, Kentucky,Clerk Kim Davis who denied same-sex marriage licences freed from jail Tuesday Sep 08,2015

Ending a constitutional standoff, at least for now, a federal judge Tuesday Sep 08,2015 ordered Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis released from jail – but on the condition she doesn’t interfere with her deputies issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

U.S. District Court Judge David Bunning, who jailed Davis for contempt of court on Thursday Sep 03,2015, ordered Davis freed from jail Tuesday. In a two-page order, Bunning ordered the U.S.Marshals Service to release her on the condition that she shall not “interfere in any way, directly or indirectly, with the efforts of her deputy clerks to issue marriage licenses to all legally eligible couples."

If she does, Bunning said, “appropriate sanctions” will be considered.

U.S. District Court Judge David Bunning ordered court-appointed lawyers for the deputies to report every 14 days on their compliance.
