Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)officially launches Pakistan Super League(PSL)Sunday Sep 20,2015

 

On Sunday Sep 20,2015,the PCB officially announced the launch of the Pakistan Super League, with it's inaugural season to be played in 2016

Designed like the now famous Indian Premier League, the Twenty20 tournament has been scheduled in either Qatar or UAE in February 2016.

In its inaugural season, the PSL will only have five teams, with plans for an expansion to a ten league team over the next 5 seasons
The following 5 franchises have been proposed:

• Islamabad
• Karachi
• Lahore
• Peshawar
• Quetta

 The four provincial capitals -- Quetta, Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar -- will be joined by Islamabad in a 24-match tournament

The PSL's official logo and anthem of the first season were launched on September 20, 2015 in a launching ceremony in Lahore.

PSL got off to a rocking start with Ali Zafar singing the tournament anthem -- Khel Ke Dikha Denge Aaj

Two veteran stars and former skippers -  Wasim Akram and Rameez Raja have signed formal contracts to be brand ambassadors of the PSL for the next three years.

Prize Money

The winners of the PSL will be awarded $10 million prize money, whereas, each player will also earn over $50,000
