The mishap occurred around 2 AM when four bogies of the Mangalore-bound train jumped the tracks at Puvanur near Vriddhachalam in Cuddalore district, about 200 km from Chennai
As many as three passengers were admitted to a nearby hospital till last report came in while the others, who suffered injuries, were given first aid.
Rail traffic was disrupted on the busy route. Several trains were halted at nearby stations. They were later operated on alternative route but were running late
