England Squad for the 5-Match ODI Series

England batsman Joe Root has been rested for the limited-overs series against Australia.

Joe Root,the 24-year-old, England's leading run-scorer during their 3-2 Ashes win, will miss the Twenty20 and five one-day internationals starting on 31 August.

Uncapped Essex left-arm pace bowler Reece Topley, 21, has been named in a 13-man T20 squad.

All-rounder Moeen Ali, rested for the ODIs against New Zealand this summer, has been recalled for both formats.

The one-day squad features five players - Moeen, Jos Buttler, Steven Finn, Ben Stokes and Mark Wood - who helped England win the Ashes.

Reece Topley and batsman James Vince, who were in the squad for the last T20 international against New Zealand but did not play in the 56-run win at Old Trafford, retain their places.

Australia defeated England by eight wickets to win the fifth and final one-day international and seal a 3-2 victory in the series at Old Trafford ,Manchester on Sunday Sep 13,2015

England skipper Eoin Morgan was retired hurt with concussion after he was struck on the head by a bouncer from Mitchell Starc in the seventh over and was unable to return as James Taylor took over the captaincy.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, England could only make 138 with Ben Stokes top scoring with 42 while Adil Rashid finished unbeaten on 35

Australian Allrounder Mitchell Marsh finished off the Australia bowling attack with 4/27 while John Hastings claimed 3/21

Set to score 139,Australia lost Joe Burns and Steve Smith cheaply but an unbroken stand of 109 between Aaron Finch and George Bailey saw the tourists home in 24.2 overs.

Aaron Finch finished unbeaten on 70 while George Bailey ended the match on 41 not out as Australia ended their tour of England on a high following their early 3-2 defeat in the Ashes Test series.
