This is the same venue as the 2016 Republican National Convention scheduled for next summer.
The first GOP primary debate will feature the top 10 leading candidates for the GOP nomination
Some candidates have their spots all but assured, particularly for the
candidates who have consistently placed in the top three in recent
polls: Trump, former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush and Wisconsin Gov. Scott
Walker, all of whom have pulled double-digit support in the latest polls
And consistently in fourth through eighth place have been neurosurgeon
Ben Carson, former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee, Sen. Marco Rubio of
Florida, Sen. Rand Paul of Kentucky and Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas.
As of now, the two remaining spots will likely go to Ohio Gov. John
Kasich, who has surged off his late-July announcement, and New Jersey
Gov. Chris Christie. Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry is close behind, but
would not make it into the debate based on CNN's average of the latest
five nationwide poll, which puts him at 2% of support.
The two-hour debate invited the 10 highest-polling candidates, as
measured by the average of the top five national polls selected by Fox.
In addition, all other candidates who were "consistently being offered"
as choices in national polls were be invited to a one-hour debate
earlier that same day.
The two-tiered debate hosted by Fox News on the Thursday August 06,2015 was qualitatively
different from the C-SPAN "Voters First" Republican Forum held at St. Anselm College in Manchester, NH on the August 03,2015 for at least three
reasons -it was a debate rather than a forum, where candidates were
allowed to challenge each other, not just speak one at a time
sequentially; it was divided into two tiers based on national polling
numbers
The candidates in the main debate were Donald Trump, Jeb Bush, Scott
Walker, Mike Huckabee, Ben Carson, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul,
Chris Christie, and John Kasich. Seven candidates who did not qualify
were invited to participate in the 5:00 PM forum; these were Rick Perry,
Bobby Jindal, Rick Santorum, Lindsey Graham, Carly Fiorina, Jim
Gilmore, and George Pataki.
Debate Moderators are - Bret Baier, Megyn Kelly and Chris Wallace
Donald J. Trump came out of the debate with more airtime than any other
candidate. He had almost three times as many opportunities to speak as
Rand Paul or Gov. Chris Christie, through direct questions from the
moderators and rebuttals to other candidates. Darker bars indicate
responses that were longer than 60 seconds
