International Tiger Day - July 29

Tigers may be one of the most admired animals, but they are also vulnerable to extinction

We have lost 97% of all wild tigers in a bit over 100 years. Instead of 100,000, as few as 3000 live in the wild today, last year it was 3200

The lion may be the king of the jungle, but it's the tiger that holds mystique and charisma. From the Chinese zodiac, to Buddhism, and even Rocky Balboa (cue trumpets), the largest of the cat species has been a symbol of strength and power throughout history and across cultures

International Tiger Day, also known as Global Tiger Day, is an annual celebration to raise awareness for Tiger conservation, held annually on July 29

International Tiger Day was created at the Saint Petersburg Tiger Summit  in 2010
