In the 24 hours ending 8.30 a.m. on Friday, Mumbai has recorded a whopping 283 mm of rain, which pushes the total rainfall received so far in June to 537 mm. This is more than the monthly average of 523 mm.
More showers have been forecast through the day with a high tide of 4.60 metres (nearly 15 feet)
With tracks completely waterlogged, operations have been suspended on the Harbour line. Train services have also been stopped between the busy Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) and the Kurla suburb on the Central line. The Western Railways is running staggered services till Andheri.

Massive traffic jams were reported across the city. The city's BEST buses have also altered their routes in view of flooding and heavy water-logging reported at several areas including Hindmata, Dadar, Parel, Sion, Vikhroli, Andheri, Jogeshwari, Santa Cruz.
As services on all three railway lines - Central, Western and Harbour - were cancelled, harried commuters rushed to catch buses, taxis or any other mode of transport available, resutling in severe traffic jams
Residents immediately took to Twitter to warn others.
The rains caused water-logging in almost all low-lying areas of Mumbai and its suburbs including Kurla, Chembur, Tilak Nagar, Andheri, Parel, Lower Parel, Thane, Navi Mumbai and Dombivili.
