AB de Villiers became the first cricketer to score a half-century in 12 consecutive Tests


South African batsman AB de Villiers in February 2014 became the sole owner of a unique record for batting in Test cricket that has stood for almost four decades.

AB De Villiers’ record started on November 30, 2012 when he scored 169 at Perth to win the series for South Africa on tour to Australia.
Since then he has scored two fifties against New Zealand ;five half-centuries against Pakistan at home and on tour to United Arab Emirates ; two half centuries Vs India and two half centuries Vs Australia in Centurion and Port Elizabeth
Six out of those 12 fifties have been converted into tons.

When AB de Villiers passed 50 in the first innings of the second Test against Australia at St George’s Park, Port Elizabeth he became the first man in the history of the game to make a half-century in 12 consecutive Tests.
AB de Villiers was eventually out for 116 shorlty after lunch on caught and bowled after a rare misjudgement against the spin of Nathan Lyon.
