Prime Minister Narendra Modi Visits Mongolia May 16 - 17,2015

 
Mongolia, a landlocked country between China and Russia, has a population of over 2.9 million. More than half of the population follow Buddhism, and about three per cent follow Islam and 2.2 per cent Christianity, while 2.9 per cent are Shamanist.
With a land area slightly smaller than Alaska, it has a density of around 1.7 people per square km - among the lowest population densities among independent countries.
Mongolia is nicknamed the "Land of Blue Skies", as it has around 250 sunny days

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday May 16,2015 landed in Ulan Bator in the Mongolian capital in the first-ever visit by an Indian prime minister.
NarendraModi arrived in Ulan Bator from Shanghai in the second leg of his three-nation visit concluding a 3-day visit to China
Narendra Modi was received at the airport by Mongolian Foreign Minister L. Purevsuren.

Prime Minister Modi addressed the State Great Hural, the Mongolian Parliament, which was specially convened on Sunday May 17,2015 on a holiday for the first time for a foreign leader

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday handed over a Bodhi tree sapling to Hamba Lama (Chief Abbott) of the Gandan Tegchilen monastery in the Mongolian Capital.
Gandan is the largest and most significant monastery in Mongolia. Built in the mid 19th century, it is the only monastery where Buddhist services continue to function even during the Communist period.

Narendra Modi, the first Indian Prime Minister to visit Mongolia went to the Gir shrine dedicated to Lord Buddha.
The Hamba Lama D Choijamts held the Prime Minister's hand and took him around Vajra Tara temple where the Indian leader paid obeisance.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday received a horse named 'Kanthaka' from his Mongolian counterpart Chimed Saikhanbileg.

MEA spokesperson Vikas Swarup tweeted a photograph of the unusual gift, saying, "A special gift for a special visitor!Mongolian PM gifts a horse to PM @narendramodi."
