Top five players in Premier League's 22-year history

 
1)Ryan Giggs is the most decorated player in English football history. The Welshman has made 632 appearances in the Premier League, starting 522 of those matches. 

The longevity displayed by Ryan Giggs in a career spanning 22 years at one of the world's top football clubs is unrivalled. 

Giggsy, as he is fondly called by teammates, boasts of 13 Premier League titles , higher than anyone else.


2)Theirry Henry is often considered as not just the greatest player to wear the Arsenal colours, but also the greatest Frenchman to have ever played in English football history. Henry was at the forefront of Arsene Wenger's revolution at Arsenal. 

The forward's brilliance in front of the goal drove Arsenal to two Premier League and two FA Cup triumphs. Crowning glory of Henry and Arsenal came in 2003-04 when they went an entire league season unbeaten. The term 'Invincibles' was coined for that team and that feat has never been matched in English football since.

With 175 goals, Thierry Henry sits third on the all time Premier League goalscorers list. His blistering pace, twinkling feet and audacity in successfully scoring improbable goals helped Henry carve out a unique place in the pantheon of Premier League greats

3)Alan Shearer began his Premier League career as a precious talent at Blackburn Rovers and culminated it at Newcastle United as an English football legend. Shearer's goalscoring prowess helped him win three Golden Boot awards in the mid-1990s. The forward was instrumental in Blackbun's historic triumph when they conquered the Premier League crown in 1994

The England striker retained his form and consistency in front of goal when he moved to Newcastle United. Shearer ended up as the highest goalscorer in Premier League history with 260 goals as well as notching up most appearance in Newcastle United's history.


4)Paul Scholes is one of world football's rare talents to have spent his entire playing career at one club

Often considered one of the best midfielders of his generation, Scholes' vision on a football field was second to none. 

Only his Manchester United teammate Ryan Giggs has won more Premier League medals than Scholes' nine. 

The midfielder's club career has been astonishingly brilliant and Scholes has been a great role model on and off the pitch. 

His long-range passing and ability to dominate matches from the middle of the park were hallmarks of Scholes' game. 

He was famously convinced to come out of retirement by Sir Alex Ferguson in order to strengthen the midfield. 
For over a decade, Scholes was the bedrock of all-conquering Manchester United teams.

5)Michael Owen's career in the Premier League was played out at three clubs – Liverpool, Newcastle United and Manchester United. 

However, the mercurial strikers career could be defined by his brilliance at Liverpool and the injury problems that plagued him thereafter

His phenomenal record of 118 Premier League goals in just 216 matches helped propel the club to a treble in 2001

Michael Owen's crowning glory arrived when he was awarded Ballon d'Or as he became the only player of English decent to win the coveted prize while still plying his trade in England's top flight football. 

He was also named in the Premier League team of the decade in 2003. Known for his burst of pace and predatory instincts in the box, Michael Owen was British football's hottest property at the time. 

However, the striker was unlucky throughout his career with a spate of injuries he sustained
