Hanifa’s rousing anthems boosted the fortunes of the Dravida Munnetra
Kazhagam from the 1930s. His "Oadi varugiran Udhayasooriyan",
"Kallakkudi konda Karunanidhi vaazhgave", "Nee engae senrai Anna" and
"Azhaikkinrar Anna" are still used by the DMK to raise party morale
also sang for a few films including Paava Mannippu in which he sang the song "Yellorum Kondaduvom" along with T. M. Soundararajan, ‘Un mathama’ in Raman Abdullah
His song Iraivanidam Kaiyenthungal is very famous among all the Tamils
At the age of 90, he passed away at his residence in Kotturpuram,Chennai on Wednesday April 08,2015
