Google celebrates the festival of colours '' Holi '' with a bright smiley doodle Friday March 06,2015

Google on Friday March 06,2015 celebrated  Holi with a multi-coloured smiley doodle on its homepage.

The doodle signifies the glorious smiles of individuals where they colour their faces in any colour they want during the celebrations

Holi, the festival of colours, heralds the beginning of spring and is celebrated all over India. The special occasion of the ancient Hindu festival is now marked even among non-Hindus

The festival date varies every year, but is always marked on the day of the full moon in March

The celebration begins with a holika bonfire on singing and dancing (a day before Holi) followed by a maverick carnival of colours the next day where people play with or splash colours on each other

The festival signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring and end of winter. And for many, it is a festive day to play, laugh and meet your loved ones. Holi is also a day to forget and forgive, and repair ruptured relationships.
