Former Indian Premier League (IPL) commissioner Lalit Modi was on
Monday March 09,2015 removed from the post of president of the Rajasthan Cricket
Association (RCA). Modi was impeached 17 votes to 1 in RCA's special
EGM.
The RCA tested their strengths with the no confidence motion against top four office bearers, including Modi, being voted on. There has been a battle within the ranks of the RCA between the Modi-led faction and the one with Amin Pathan at the top.
Mehmood Abdi, the deputy president of the RCA and president of the Sri Ganganagar District Association, said that they were confident of defeating the No Confidence Motion but also feared that the rivals might resort to unruly behaviour to disrupt the proceedings.
The faction led by Amin Pathan had claimed that RCA president Lalit Modi and three other top office bearers were removed by majority in a special EGM.
As per the Sports Act of the State and Constitution of the RCA, the Pathan Group needs two-third majority to see the no confidence passed. Out of a total 33 district associations, the Modi faction has support of about 15 units, much more than the required nine to defeat the motion
