England beat Afghanistan in final game
England defeated debutants Afghanistan by 9 wickets under D/L method in an inconsequential and rain-marred Pool A match at the SCG
Rain halted the Afghanistan innings at 111/7 in 36.2 overs and after
the target was revised, England, who are already out the race for the
quarterfinals, needed 101 runs from 25 overs.
England achieved the target with 9 wickets and 6.1 overs to spare.
Alex Hales (37), Ian Bell (52 not out) and James Taylor (8 not out) did
the work for England.
This is England's 2nd win in all six matches and ensured themselves of a fifth-place
finish in the Pool A, while Afghanistan slumped to their fifth loss in
six matches. They defeated Scotland an earlier match
