Misbah ul Haq was only seven runs shy of 5,000 before the start of the match
A single steered through midwicket off Pakistan-born leg-spinner Imran Tahir saw Misbah, batting at number four, go to 5,000 ODI runs in his 147th innings in 160 matches at this level.
Misbah ul Haq often criticised for slow scoring, came into this match averaging over 43 in ODIs with a highest score of 96 not out against the West Indies at The Oval during the 2013 Champions Trophy in England.
However, he belied his reputation by equalling West Indies` great Vivian Richards`s all-time record for the fastest Test century with a 56-ball ton against Australia in Abu Dhabi in November 2014
For Pakistan,Younis Khan (37) and Shahid Afridi (22) also chipped in with crucial scores
Set to score 232 runs from 47 overs to win under D/L,South Africa lost 4 wickets with just 74 Runs in 12.2 Overs
Hasim Amla and Faf du Plesiis added 67 Runs for the 2nd wicket after opener Quinton de Kock got out for a second ball duck
Hasim Amla’s first seven scoring shots were boundaries and he became the tournament’s highest run scorer on his way to 38 before he was brilliantly held one-handed by a diving Sarfraz.
After Amla, who hit nine fours in all, steadied the innings during his 67-run second wicket stand with Faf du Plessis
AB de Villiers reached 1,000 World Cup runs in 20 innings, equalling Sachin Tendulkar as the quickest to this mark
AB de Villiers fifth six of the match was his 32nd in World Cups, passing Ricky Ponting's 31 for the most in WC history
AB de Villiers played a superb innings but his side's hopes were virtually over when he was out for 77 Runs(58 Balls with 4x7 and 6x5) at the score of 9/200
