Arvind Panagariya Appointed Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog Monday Jan 05,2015

 

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday Jan 05,2015 named Columbia University economist Arvind Panagariya as vice-chairman of the NITI Aayog, the think-tank that has replaced the Planning Commission.

Two full-time members were also appointed -

• Bibek Debroy(Economist ) and
• V.K. Saraswat(Former Secretary, Defence R&D)

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the chairman of the panel

The ex-officio members of the panel are  -

• Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh
• Finance Minister Arun Jaitley
• Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and 
• Union Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh 

The special invitees to the panel are -

• Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari
• Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Gehlot and 
• HRD Minister Smriti Irani.

NITI Aayog came into existence on January 1,2015
