International Boxing Association (AIBA)Bans India's woman boxer Laishram Sarita Devi for 1 year

India's woman boxer Laishram Sarita Devi was on Thursday Dec 18,2014 slapped with a one-year ban by International Boxing Association (AIBA) for her refusal to accept a bronze medal during the Incheon Asian Games earlier this year in South Korea.

Sarita Devi had refused to accept her bronze at the medals distribution ceremony at Incheon, saying she has been cheated as the judges favoured the home boxer from South Korea during her semi-final bout

Also, India's foreign coach BI Fernandez and Sarita's husband Thoiba Singh were banned for two years, but chief national coach GS Sandhu was not found guilty and hence his suspension was lifted.

The boxer's personal coach Lenin has been banned for a year

Sarita Devi's one-year ban is applicable from October 1, 2014. However, her dream of competing at the 2016 Rio Olympics stays alive as the qualifiers for that begin only at the end of 2015.

Fernandez and Sarita were also asked to pay a fine of 2000 and 1000 Swiss Francs, respectively
