2014 Jammu & Kashmir Phase 5 Assembly Election Saturday Dec 20,2014

 
The 5th and final leg of Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir for 20 Assembly seats of Jammu, Rajouri and Kathua districts is scheduled to be held on Saturday December 20,2014

As many as 213 candidates, including Deputy Chief Minister Tara Chand, Ministers Sham Lal Sharma, Raman Bhalla, Manohar Lal Sharma, Ajay Sadhotra, former MP and Ministers Lal Singh, Talib Hussain (both BJP) and Jitendra Babu Singh and former Deputy Speaker Hyder Malik will be battling it out for 20 Assembly seats of Jammu, Rajouri and Kathua districts.

As many as 18,28,904 eligible voters, comprising 9,59,011 men and 8,69,891 women, will exercise their franchise at 2,366 polling stations set up across the 3 of Jammu region - Jammu, Rajouri and Kathua.

BJP has high stakes in this phase as it had got the most (10) seats in 2008 Assembly elections followed by Congress with 5 seats, NC 2, PDP 1 and 2 seats going to Independents

Counting of votes will be taken up on December 23,2014


Jammu and Kashmir recorded a "historic and unprecedented" polling in the last 27 years with 66% electorate exercising their franchise in the five phases, the last one today recording a high 76 % with voters braving freezing temperatures.
