PM Narendra Modi inaugurates Sir HN Reliance Foundation hospital in Mumbai Saturday Oct 25,2014

 
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday Oct 25,2014 digitally inaugurated the newly renovated and expanded 90-year-old Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai.
 
While addressing the inaugural ceremony, PM Modi said that the need of the hour is preventive healthcare in order to scale down the outbreak of diseases and boost the quality of health in the country
 
The PM lauded the efforts of Reliance Foundation in giving a new lease of life to Mumbai's first general hospital built in the year 1925. The PM said that in a way it is a new beginning for the hospital

The PM also remarked that medical science is evolving and that the pace of this evolution will only increase in the coming years. Modi also mentioned that India should produce its own medical equipments since the cost of such equipment is only going to shoot up in the recent years.

The PM also said that the need to integrate tele-medicine to enable expert opinion even for people living far away is extremely important.

The PM mentioned that another important aspect of good healthcare is the provision of clean drinking water. He went on to exemplify his point by lauding the efforts the Madhya Pradesh government for starting a programme encouraging children to wash their hands.
The PM stressed on the need to bring about a change in India, adding that every government has done its bit and that the NDA government is striving relentlessly to take India forward.
The inaugural function was attended by the Reliance Foundation's chairperson Nita Ambani and Reliance Industries chief Mukesh Ambani, Maharashtra Governor Vidyasagar Rao, ICICI bank chief Chanda Kochhar, Bollywood actors like Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Amitabh Bachchan and sportspersons like Sachin Tendulkar, Sunil Gavaskar and Anil Kumble, among others.
The august gathering was addressed by PM Modi, Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani while the event was hosted by MP Paresh Rawal.
Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital is now a swanky 19 floor structure in the heart of South Mumbai. The hospital is furnished with state-of-the-art operation theatres.
For the first time, the hospital has a collaboration with America's most renowned institutes like Johns Hopkins, MD Anderson Cancer Centre, Massachusetts General Hospital and University of Southern California.
The hospital will reserve a fifth of its capacity for the underprivileged and provide 10 per cent beds for free to the needy and another 10 per cent at subsidised rates.
Doctors have also been asked to conduct free surgeries and hold free weekly OPDs for the poor as well.
The hospital has applied for a green status, which could make it India's largest green hospital
