2014 Brazil Presidential Election Sunday Oct 05,2014

General elections is scheduled to be held in Brazil on Sunday October 05,2014 to elect the President,National Congress,State Governors and State Legislatures

Voting is mandatory for those aged between 18 and 70.

More than 142 million people were eligible to vote on Sunday.

Turnout was 80%.

Preliminary results of the first round of voting, with over 97% of the votes counted, indicate that Dilma Rousseff (Worker's Party)won 41.4% of the vote, ahead of Aécio Neves(Brazilian Social Democratic Party) with 33.8% and Marina Silva with 21.3%(Brazilian Socialist Party

Rousseff and Neves will therefore contest the runoff on October 26,2014

Brazilian incumbent Dilma Rousseff has won most votes in the country's presidential election, but has fallen short of outright victory.

She received about 42% of the vote and faces a run-off against centre-right rival Aecio Neves, who got 34%.
