The first tweet from President Pranab Mukherjee’s official Twitter
handle was posted at 2.30 p.m. and in about five hours, the list of
followers had swollen up to over 10,000. On Tuesday President Mukherjee
debuted on Twitter with the handle @RashtrapatiBhvn.
The latest to join Twitter,Pranab Mukherjee on assuming office in 2012 was
the first President to have a presence on the social networking sites,
Facebook and YouTube. His Office releases information about the
President’s engagements through regular updates on these social
networking sites.
The profile page of the President’s handle reads; “This is the official
Twitter account of Rashtrapati Bhavan and is run by President’s
Secretariat. Tweets from the President are signed – President Mukherjee"
