Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Wednesday June 11,2014 unveiled a range of facilities for the Tamil Nadu Police which included -
The new CB-CID HQ, established at the erstwhile office of the Commissioner of Police at Egmore, rises to 4 storeys covering 50,577 Sq.Ft and has been constructed at a cost of Rs. 10.17 crore. The complex also houses CB-CID wings such as Anti-Dacoity cell, Counterfeit Currency Prevention Wing, Cyber crime prevention wing, Special Investigation Division and Government Railway Police senior officials’ offices.
Tiruvarur District Police Office, Avadi, and Vallanadu barracks, armoury, bell of arms and barracks at Sevur in Vellore district, Police Training School in Tiruchi and 873 police quarters in various districts through video conferencing , all costing a little over Rs. 100 crore.
Chief Secretary Mohan Verghese Chunkath, Adviser to the State government Sheela Balakrishnan, Principal Secretary (Home) Apurva Varma, Director-General of Police K. Ramanujam, Commissioner of Police, Chennai City, S. George, Chairman of the Tamil Nadu Police Housing Corporation Shakeel Akthar, Director of the Fire and Rescue Services, R.C. Kudawla, and senior police officials were present.
