Relief for Delhi University's 6,500 B.Tech Students as UGC lets them finish 4-year courses

The UGC brought good news for nearly 6,500 B.Tech students of Delhi University’s 2013-14 batch on Sunday, as it made an exception for them to continue the four-year course in DU colleges.
“The four-year B.Tech programmes in Computer Science, Electronics, Food Technology, Instrumentation Electronics and Polymer Sciences may continue in these programmes only for the students already admitted for the academic year 2013-14,” the UGC said in a statement issued by its secretary Jaspal Singh Sandhu.
The University Grants Commission, however, has not cleared the status on the Psychological Science course
It has also remained silent on the Bachelor of Management Studies (BMS) course that was formed combining three courses — Bachelor of Business Economics (BBE), Bachelors of Business Studies (BBS) and Bachelor of Financial and Investment Analysis (BFIA).

However, an official source said that Psychological Science and the BMS programmes are likely to be converted into three-year courses.
Around 6,500 students were enrolled last year in the six B.Tech programmes in 35 colleges, a Delhi University official said.
About 840 students are pursuing the BMS course.
The statement remained ambiguous on the AICTE approval of the B.Tech programmes and has directed the DU colleges to obtain appropriate approval of the regulatory bodies such as the All India Council for Technical Education.
It has also asked the colleges to ensure that the students admitted in these programmes are not put to any disadvantage.
