Android set to invade television as Google switches on Android TV


Google's Android operating system is stretching beyond its usual focus on smartphones and tablets into cars, homes and smartwatches at the Internet giant's annual developer's conference.

At Google I/O 2014, attended by about 6,000 developers, bloggers and journalists, the company announced Android TV, a version of its Android operating system tailored for television sets. Android TV, can be incorporated into smart TVs, set-top-boxes and video game consoles.

Android TV will allow users to watch movies, and videos from Google Play, YouTube, and your apps such as Netflix on their TV sets as well as play Android games on the TV with the aid of a gamepad. Users will also get personalised recommendations the home screen and it will also support voice search.
