FC Barcelona appoint Luis Enrique as first-team coach on a 2-year deal

- Born: 8 May 1970, Gijon, Spain
- Playing career: Played for both Real Madrid and Barcelona and won three La Liga titles as well as the Uefa Cup Winners' Cup before retiring in 2004. Capped 62 times for Spain.
- Early management career: Succeeded former team-mate Pep Guardiola as coach of Barcelona's B team in June 2008. Quit at the end of his third season in charge.
- Roma: Took over as head coach of the Serie A club in June 2011 but left after one season in which they finished in seventh place and failed to qualify for Europe.
- Celta Vigo: In June 2013 replaced former Spain team-mate Abel Resino in charge of Vigo and guided the club to ninth place in La Liga in his only season.
- Barcelona: Appointed Gerardo Martino's successor at the Nou Camp in May 2014.
Luis Enrique,the 44-year-old former Barca player, who managed the club's B team between 2008 and 2011, left his role as Celta Vigo boss last week.

Gerardo Martino, who succeeded the late Tito Vilanova last summer, ended his two-year deal by mutual consent earlier this week after Barca failed to win the Spanish title for only the second time in six years.
