2014 Colombian Presidential Election Sunday May 25,2014

The Colombian presidential election of 2014 is scheduled to be held on Sunday May 25,2014.

If no candidate receives 50% of the vote in the first round, a run-off between the two candidates with the most votes will take place three weeks later on June 15, 2014

Incumbent President Juan Manel Santos(Party of the U) is allowed to run for a second consecutive term

32,795,962 Colombians had registered to vote

Colombia's President Santos to face Zuluaga in run-off vote

Official results from Colombia's presidential election say the incumbent President Juan Manuel Santos will face his main rival, Oscar Zuluaga, in a run-off next month. 

Neither of the two centre-right candidates secured more than 50% of votes needed to avoid a second round.

Main challenger Oscar Zuluaga (L) will face President Juan Manuel Santos (R) in a run-off on June 15,2014

With 99.57% of the votes counted, Oscar Zuluaga won the first round with 29.27%, followed by
Juan Manuel Santos with 25.63%

Juan Manuel Santos Wins Presidential Run-Off  June 15,2014

Santos won nearly 51% of votes and saw off his right-wing challenger Oscar Ivan Zuluaga, who had 45%.
Zuluaga, who had won the first round of voting in May 2014 by a narrow margin, accepted defeat
