Auditions for the series took place between January and February 2014 in Belfast, London, Manchester, Birmingham and Cardiff. This is the first series where auditions have been held outside of Great Britain in Northern Ireland, but auditions were not held in Scotland, the first time this has happened since the first series in 2007
Ant & Dec will return to present the main show on ITV
Judges Simon Cowell and Amanda Holden will return for their 8th series on the judging panel
This series saw the introduction of the new 'golden buzzer'. During the auditions, as well as the standard buzzers, each judge was given one 'golden buzzer'. They could use this buzzer only once, and it would send that auditionee straight through to the live semi-finals regardless of the opinions of the other three judges.
