UPA II Govt at its last Cabinet meeting on Sunday March 02,2014 (ahead of the general election)approved the inclusion of the Jat community in the Central list of OBCs
for the states of Bihar, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya
Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttarrakhand, Uttar Pradesh and the National capital
territory of Delhi.
Jat leaders on Monday March 03,2014 welcomed the decision of the Union Cabinet to include Jats in nine states in the central list of Other Backward Classes and said the move will help youths from the community in getting jobs.

In 2011 National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC)had rejected the demand for Jat reservation in central government jobs
