SpiceJet and Boeing Ink Record $4.4 bn Deal at India Aviation Show Wednesday March 12,2014


In the biggest-ever deal signed at the India Aviation Show, SpiceJet has inked an agreement with Boeing for purchase of 42 737 MAX 8 aircraft costing Rs. 26,000 crore ($ 4.4 billion)on Wednesday March 12,2014


The deal was signed between Boeing Senior Vice-President (Asia-Pacific and India Sales) Dinesh Keskar, SpiceJet CEO Sanjeev Kapur and Sun Group CFO, S.L. Narayanan, on the inaugural day of the Hyderabad Air Show-India Aviation 2014 in the presence of Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh

With Wednesday's announcement, SpiceJet has ordered 90 airplanes directly from Boeing, which includes the 737-800, 737-900ER and now the 737 MAX. Till date, SpiceJet has taken delivery of 31 of the aircraft and the induction of Boeing 737 MAX would further modernize its fleet, improve customer experience and ensure that the airline operates the most efficient fleet, well into the future
