Polling in the upcoming Lok Sabha
elections is likely to commence in the second week of April 2014 and may be
spread over 7 phases
The probable dates for the commencement of polling are between April 7 and 10,2014
As of now, the plan is to have voting, involving over 81 crore voters, in 7 phases, but efforts are on to reduce that to 6 phases.
The term of the current15th Lok Sabha (total strength 543 excluding two nominated members)will have term till May 31,2014
Along with the Lok Sabha polls, Andhra Pradesh(294) till June 2, including the regions comprising the newly-created Telangana, Odisha(147) till June 7 and Sikkim, will go to polls to elect new Assemblies.
