Gul Panag, former Miss India, takes Aam Aadmi ticket to politics

Gul Panag has a travelled a long way since hitting the spotlight in 1999, when she won the Miss India beauty pageant.



A stint in the world of fashion and cinema followed soon after.

Gul Panag's Bollywood sojourn saw her acting in films like Dor, which were critically acclaimed, but her career stalled.

Gul Panag,the 35-year-old, also a fitness enthusiast, is very active on Twitter, with some 8 lakh followers.

Gul Panag has now decided to take the aam aadmi route to enter politics.

Gul Panag on Thursday March 13,2014 joined AAP and is set to be declared as its candidate from the Chandigarh Lok Sabha seat

Former Miss India and actor Gul Panag joined Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and will be its candidate for Lok Sabha polls from Chandigarh, a place where she was born and describes as her “family’s home”.

Gul Panag said that the country is at the threshold of transformational change which is being led by AAP and Arvind Kejriwal.


Gul Panag is expected to take on former union minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, a 3-term Congress heavyweight, whose candidature has reportedly been cleared by the Congress election committee

Gul Panag's father Lt. Gen (Retd.) H S Panag is one of the founding members of the Aam Aadmi Party.
