BJP leaders Nitin Gadkari, Murli Manohar Joshi, Sushma Swaraj, Rajnath Singh, L.K. Advani and Narendra Modi during the party's central election committee meeting in Delhi
While the list included the name of senior leader Sushma Swaraj contesting from Vidisha in Madhya Pradesh, it still did not mention the names of old horses, including L.K. Advani and Murali Manohar Joshi.
The list also included sons and daughters of heavyweights. While late Pramod Mahajan's daughter Poonam Mahajan will be pitched from Mumbai North Central against Congress' Priya Dutt,Yashwant Sinha's son Jayant will fight from Hazaribagh constituency.
Yashwant Sinha had requested the party to bless his son and to relieve him due to his old age.
Sriramulu is said to be close to Reddy brothers. He walked out of the BJP two years ago and floated the BSR Congress.Sushma Swaraj was opposed to giving him ticket. The party, however, decided against a merger with his BSR Congress, which is seen as a front of the infamous Reddy brothers.
S.S. Ahluwalia replaced Jaswant Singh and will fight for the Darjeeling seat. Sources said Singh had earlier preferred to shift to Rajasthan.
Earlier, name of Rajiv Pratap Rudy was doing the rounds for this safe seat supported by the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha, which wants a separate Gorkhaland state. Rudy has been given the Saran seat in Bihar.
Even as many candidates have been announced from Bihar, but the list did not include the name of Shatrughan Sinha and he may fight from Delhi and Patna Sahib seat has also been left vacant for him.
Kirti Azad will be contesting from Darbhanga from where he is the sitting MP.
RJD rebel Ram Kripal Yadav, who recently joined BJP after quitting RJD, will contest from Patliputra against Lalu Prasad's daughter Misa.
Party's spokesperson and Muslim face Shahnawaz Hussain will fight from Bhagalpur in Bihar. The constituency has substantial number of minority population.
Other candidates include Ravindra Pandey from Giridih, Ramtahal Chaudhary from Ranchi and Sudarshan Bhagat from Lohardaga.
